First and foremost in the life of an authentic servant is a deep, abiding dependency on the living Lord. On the basis of that attitude, the kingdom of heaven is promised.
Let us at Oakwood be the salt and light of Christ in our society.........
Ministry Opportunities
The Voice of the Martyrs (V.O.M.), Ministering in Iraq
Contact information: 800-747-0085, http://www.persecution.com/
Mission: The Voices of the Martyrs offers Christians in America a unique opportunity to assist their brothers and sisters in Iraq. Iraq claims to maintain religious freedom. However, Christians who have chosen to be a witness outside the “church walls” have been ridiculed, beaten and even imprisoned. There is hope! There are practical & personal ways to encourage them and assist them.
Need: Order an Action Pack for $5.00, fill it up & mail it! It’s that simple. The Action packs remind our persecuted brethren that God has not forgotten them, and that we are all united through Christ’s love. Your family, Sunday school class or Bible study group could join together and fill an Action pack. Each Action Pack includes: * A special preprinted vacuum bag * Instructions on mailing the filled bag back to VOM * Instructions on what to put in the vacuum bag (such as shirts, towels, a blanket, etc…)

Walker State Prison Ministry
Contact Name: Randy Carter, 706-764-6105 or Terry Cooke 706-866-5818
Mission: We have a church service every Sunday evening from 6:30-8:30 pm. We have a time of worship, our pastor's message on DVD, and a small group discussion time to dig deeper into the message. Most of the men that attend our service are Christians. Many were saved while in prison. These men face many challenges. Prison life is extremely difficult. 90% of the inmates in prison are not saved, and many are openly hostile to the Gospel. Our mission is to focus on training, equipping, encouraging and motivating these men to reach out to the lost in prison.
How you can help: We need volunteers to help during our small group discussion time. We also need talented musicians. There is also a need for personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, deordant, soap, shampoo, etc. These items may be left at the Chickamauga Campus (attn: Walker State Prison)
